Jesse Atlas wrote and directed the 2023 film Assassin. It is promoted as one of the last movies of Hollywood legend Bruce Willis who was determined to have frontotemporal dementia last year after which he declared that he would be resigning from acting. As his final film appearance, this one was somewhat hyped up. Dominic Purcell, Andy Allo, and Nomzamo Mbatha are also in the film. It centers on Alexa, played by Mbatha, who is coerced into participating in a high-tech assassin mission in order to get justice for her dying husband. By "hacking" the brains of the people she is controlling, she is able to move from body to body on this mission. It's a bland, tasteless movie that comes across as at best average and unoriginal.

The film shifts its focus to Alexa (Nomzamo Mbatha) during a transition that gives the impression that it was made outside of Movie Maker. Along with her husband, Alexa is shown nursing him while he is in a coma. She is shown to be a member of the armed forces.

It doesn't make any sense, nonetheless, as he was a robot pilot. After that, she learns about the massive plot behind her husband's state. He wasn't a drone pilot, but rather a worker for Valmora, whose technology lets "pilots" enter random people's minds and control them. Alexa is snagged into this connivance to do likewise for Valmora when Adrian, the miscreant (the principal characters call him that) gets the tech as well. Alexa is sent through a matrix-like process in which she lies in an ice-filled bathtub while wearing a skintight suit because Valmora and the crew can't trust anyone else.

Her central goal? to kill Adrian, get revenge on her husband, and keep people from getting this technology wrong. Basically, a fair film misses the mark on genuine worth. There was not a single redeeming quality in the story because it was so lackingluster. Bruce Willis rarely appears on screen, and when he does, he lacks any presence. This film feels like it was made by a beginner movie producer. It is so nonexclusive inside and out that despite the fact that the idea might have been fun, it seems like a really long wreck.

I'd suggest you skirt this film since it does not merit any of the 1 hour 30 odd minutes that it runs for.
